Victors in Christ Serving the Victor Valley!!
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. ~ Romans 8:37

In 490 B.C. there was a battle at Marathon between the Greeks and the Persians. Against all odds, the Greeks gained the advantage and it was clear they would be the winners. A runner left for Athens--26 miles, 385 yards away. When he arrived at the city gates he collapsed and died, but not before he exclaimed one word: "Nike!" (pronounced nee-kay). It means, "Victory!"

"Nike" is the Greek verb that forms the basis for the translation "We are more than conquerors." We are reminded that in Christ we have won a total and complete victory because these words take us back to Christ's cross and empty tomb. And so, we are assured that our sins are indeed forgiven. Yes, we are assured of a not-so-obvious but oh-so-real truth: we are victors in Christ!

As the people of St. John Lutheran Church together we bask in, live in, and grow in the knowledge of our victory in Christ. As victorious saints in Christ, we are committed to sharing Christ's victory with all those around us.
